Contemporary International Problems Pol.300

Throughout the history of America, we witness events and concerns where America has thoroughly participated in international intervention. The United States of America sent her military troops to Latin American countries during the end of Spanish-American War and the beginning of Great Depression. The American government intervened Nicaragua between 1909 and 1933 to gain power over Panama. President Bill Clinton also initiated the intervention on Venezuelan politics to overthrow President Hugo Chavez frias or another perfect example would be American Intervention in the Gulf countries till date.

The Bureaucrats plays a very important role in formatting or analyzing the foreign policy of a country. The Department of Defense, the National Security Council, and the Department of State are some vital departments to justify the argument. The CIA provides all intelligence information, the NSC advices on military, domestic and national security issues and all these reports that goes to the president keeps a check in making foreign policies.

Unilateralism is a doctrine that supports one sided actions and unilateralism has dictated American foreign policy for many years. Unilateralism formed a shape in the history of America majorly after the World War Second. Her intention to gain the recognition of super power and strengthen the foreign policy in the world clearly paved a way for unilateralism to slip into American politics. The Pew Research Center announced that, 49 percent of the 22nd century Americans think that, United States should mind its own business internationally. And for the first time in more than 40 years of polling, Americans response to isolationist outnumbered the unilateralism. The main reason that triggers the Americans to favor isolationist is the heavy lost caused in the Baghdad war and her international military interventions throughout the 21st century. The lost of human lives and monetary during these interventions caused dissatisfactions to many Americans disowning unilateralism in America.
