The War on Terror How it affects Australia and Asias relationship

The fight against terrorism has brought Australia and Asia (specifically Southeast Asia) into a close relationship that intends to widen the forces that would stop terrorist-relation incidents.  Terrorism in Asia, brought by the ethnic conflicts within the region was a result of the 1997 financial crisis. With the increase threats of terrorism in the last few years in Asia, Australias major support on the fight against terror is a vital key to a successful fight.

The Australias optimistic foreign policy (late 1980s and early 1990s) that promotes globalization, economic improvement through inter-state cooperation and the evaluation of the democratic system have been the start of improvement of Asia and Australias relationship. The terrorist crisis rotating within the Asian region on the late 1990s changed Australias perspective towards Asian countries. Australias domestic political policies have enormously raised the concerns of Asian governments, particularly the racist tendency of the Australian government in creating international policies.

Australia has also been a main supporter of the referendum on East Timor which resulted to the independence of the nation. Australian government also assisted in the UN-military backup against the Indonesian military men against Indonesia. Due to many criticisms of Australias commitment against terrorism, its government has balance its domestic ties and international relations with Asia and the US.  The Bali bombing has created the start of bad to good relationship between Australia and Indonesia and the rest of Asia. The favorable diplomacy policies of Australia have helped solved issues like terrorism and illegal immigration.
