Change in law enforcement due to terrorism

The increased incidents of terrorism have had a great impact on the manner in which law enforcement is carried out. The agencies of law enforcement have gone through tremendous changes in order to deal effectively with the security threat resulting from terrorism. Instead of these agencies focusing mostly on the felonies and misdemeanors, they have been called upon to play a much bigger role of protecting the innocent people against terrorism threat together with fear of terrorist acts. The officials of law enforcement in all levels that is local, federal and state are required to work together in combating terrorism. This basically implied that the formerly existing invisible gap or line between various security agencies was crossed or bridged. Terrorism has compelled the security agencies to act in a more proactive manner as opposed to acting reactively. They are therefore involved in efforts that are aimed at preventing acts of terrorism from taking place instead of waiting until a terrorist attack is reported and thus rush to the scene and initiate investigations (Terwilliger, 2005).

The major challenge facing the agencies of law enforcement in combating terrorism is gathering information, analyzing it and later disseminating information. The agencies of laws enforcement have to develop ways and means through which they can share information concerning terrorism among themselves. The information concerning terrorism is usually a lot and it is very sensitive and thus it has to be handled with a lot of care by the relevant security agencies. However, these agencies are yet to achieve high standards in gathering, analyzing and disseminating the relevant information about terrorism. There is therefore a dire need of ensuring that the security agencies coordinate their operations in order to improve their efficiency in curbing terrorism (Terwilliger, 2005).

Modern security alarm systems
The high levels of insecurity have led to the development of several alarm systems for alerting people when security has been breached. The wireless security systems are modern alarms which have been developed and are suitable for security both at home and other places such as airports. They are installed with surveillance cameras which are monitored to ensure that any abnormal movement is reported to the authorities as soon as possible. They are usually placed at sites where they are not easily seen and where the cameras can capture a good image of the entire place (Padmane  Gadge, n.d.).

Buildings are also being installed with security alarms gadgets that are capable of sensing various weapons especially those that are mostly favored by terrorists in carrying out their terrible missions. Once such alarms detect certain weapons and explosives, they immediately raise alarm thus prompting the security agents to search such person before he or she can use the weapon to harm other people. These alarms are usually monitored throughout so that the security teams guarding the premises can be able to respond fast when the alarm is raised as any delay can prove to be very fatal. The CCTVs are also modern security alarm systems which are very essential in surveying various places. They have facilities that enable them to record all the events that are taking place and thus it is possible for the security agent monitoring the CCTV to easily notice some abnormal movement that is likely to pose some security threat. Again, the recording facility provides the security agencies with a chance of using the recorded images while analyzing the tactics that are likely to be used by terrorists and other criminals (Padmane  Gadge, n.d.).
