Comparison Germany and South Africas political systems

In conclusion, we can draw that the political system of South Africa is better than that of Germany. This is due to the fact that its political system is dominated by over ten different parties which oversee the running of the country. In Germany, the political system has been dominated by the Christian Democratic Union and the Social Democratic Party since 1949.

Also, in South Africa the opposition parties have not been suppressed by the ruling party (Africa National Congress). This have enabled them to remain robust and vocal in the formulation of policies and overseeing the implementation of the same. It is also in this country that we saw the formation of the Reconstruction and Development Program (RDP) which sought to unite all the citizens and avail equal opportunities to them regardless of their ethnic background (Beck, 2000, p.24). It is also better than Germany political system since it is within this country that we witnessed the first all race election which came as a surprise to international observers.

Also, in South Africa the decision making process calls for the participation of all the stakeholders and mainly the National Assembly. For the Germans, their political system is known to have an opaque decision making process. This is normally due to backroom politics where small group of high level leaders dominates the decision making process. This makes the Bundestag representatives with no option other than agreeing with the high level leaders since they may end up with none of their policies. Finally, the political system in Germany is also dominated by the Bundesrat which is an upper house in the political system whose members are not elected by the public. In South Africa, membership to the National Assembly is through a popular vote from the general public (Beck, 2000, p.67).
