United States Public Policy against Terrorism

On September 11, 2001 2,973 American lives were taken. Wives became widows, Sons became orphans and an entire nation was left in tears. The United States has been plagued with terrorism in the past, but September 11, 2001 by far has been the worst terrorist attack on American soil. The United States of America has a duty to protect its citizens and in response to these horrendous attacks several Acts  including the PATRIOT Act of 2001  were passed. The following outlines the policies that the United States and its citizens need to uphold.

Prior to September 11, 2001 some of the United States agencies such as the FBI did not have the proper equipment to handle Terrorism. The U.S will provide the various agencies with the proper tools, funding and support to fight terrorism

Man power is very limited. Police, FBI Agents and CIA Agents cant be everywhere at all times. Because of this reason the U.S will grant several agencies surveillance authority.

The people who fund terrorist are also as guilty as terrorist. The United States will crack down on individuals who launder money internationally in order to fund terrorist operations.

The United States has always been lenient with its immigration laws. After September 11, 2001 it has become apparent that its border needs to be better protected to prevent terrorist from entering. Tougher immigration laws will be implemented.

Terrorism is a very serious offense and the United States expects its citizen to cooperate with the various law enforcement agencies in order to prevent or eliminate terrorist threats. It is the obligation of the citizens of the United States to remove any obstacle which will prevent any officer or agent from conducting proper investigation.

In case an officer or agent dies while performing his duties, the family of that officeragent will be given compensation. The compensation will be in the amount of 250,000

Fighting Terrorism is a country wide effort. Law enforcement agents will be allowed to cross jurisdictions in order to fight terrorism.

Before a person is allowed to transport hazardous material, a background check must be performed to ensure that person is fit to do the job.

The punishment has to fit the crime. Terrorism is a huge offense. The laws have to be more severe in order to punish does responsible for terrorist acts.

The best way to prevent terrorism is to know ahead of time. The United States is committed to improve its intelligence resources

The United States will not use these laws as a basis for discrimination. The constitution clearly states that all men are created equal. Everyone has the right to pursue happiness.
