Political Science Reflection

The aspect of politics always revolves around the ability to exercise influence and compliance to the specific objectives of a particular actor. Here, it coincides with the ability to utilize the necessary means (even violence) to achieve specific goal and purpose. Due to this, the idea of politics coincide becomes a valuable aspect in shaping policy development and a stance towards the protection and preservation of these innate values.

Reflecting on this idea as it relates with Don Troianis depiction of the First Battle of Flags, it can be seen that this picture demonstrates an essential aspect of politics  war and aggression. Though many consider this action to be undemocratic in western ideals, it serves its purpose especially if it protects sovereignty and ability to exercise freedom by the citizenry. This picture demonstrates an active interplay of relations towards fulfilling a particular ideology or direction in specific actions (Janda, Berry, and Goldman, p.3).

At the same time, the illustration can also be characterized as an attempt to clamor and fight towards order and stability within government. An essential aspect of American history is concentrated on these scenes because it seeks to justify that even in these contradicting purpose and objectives, there is an innate political ideology present among its members. In particular, the leaders of these factions support the idea of establishing freedom and control of ideals. These then serve as an important benchmark in cultivating the perspective of democracy in American history and politics.

Another thing that can be observed in this artwork is its ability to illustrate the dimension of the democratization process. Here, changes in ideologies would always not be received by open arms especially of people in power. Sometimes to allow this principle to occur, conflict must be applied. This in turn showcases the ability to coerce other people in adhering to ones specific principles. It is particularly apparent in this depiction due to the fact that the established government during this time remains unstable and remains to be divided among states and local control is facilitated by these leaders accordingly.

Similarly, ideologies are also personified via interest groups who are then embedded within the two competing factions during the American Civil War. Due to this, it then becomes a primary concern among people in seeking to illustrate and convey these meanings accordingly. The end result thus is clashes and conflict which would lead eventually to the struggle for power and control (Janda, Berry, and Goldman, p. 13). These dynamics then correspond to the political sphere in achieving interests and portraying appropriate responses and initiatives to obtain these.

Overall, this approach can also be applied in a globalized setup. There are continued patterns that allow the exchange and implementation of interests by different actors in the international environment. At the same time, it also coincides with formulating appropriate values in instilling the appropriate course of action to either promote democracy or increase its participation on different democratic institutions existent in a particular country and society. This picture serves as a pre-requisite for achieving stability within the state. Though it may showcase the existence of force and violence, it remains an important tool in underlining the meaning of interests and its impact on different actors involved in power.
