The changes and shifts that are happening within American History continue to shape by decisions and actions coming from individuals and groups. These then serve as an important culminating point that not only expands the process of its historical growth but also expands the process of change towards a particular course. Seeing this, the period from the Civil War towards the latter part of the Great Depression showcased numerous incidents and changes that have forever shaped the way Americans view their overall purpose and value.

One theme in American history that has provided this shift involves the reunification of different states of the Union and the Confederates after the onset of the Civil War. Under this process, it involves the creation of a stabilizing force that seeks to unite and develop new directions for the country (Americas Library, p.1). It legitimizes the purpose of solidifying each state with the overall effort towards creating a unified stance and purpose in achieving its objectives and forwarding an enlightened stance towards its actions.

Due to this, the aftermath of the Civil war served as a uniting purpose in outlining and justifying new directions for the country to seek. Rather than a divided one, the Americans in different states became united in seeking to protect its freedom and sovereignty. Each one contributed towards establishing a fundamental precept that not only changed their outlook but also paved the way for a new movement in areas such as politics, governance, and development of culture (Americas Library, p.1).

Another significant them present within these period involves the development of the Amendments of the US Constitution. In particular, it involves seeking to solidify new directions that sought to improve not only the welfare of its citizenry but also seek to even out what challenges may have been insignificant during a particular period or era (Archives.gov, p.1). Due to this principle, the development of Amendments 15 and 16 contributed to the solidification of a legislature towards the creation of equality among African Americans over the issue of slavery and suffrage.

Analyzing this issue further, it can be argued that these changes in the US Amendments solidified further the creation of a country that seeks to open up to not only its citizenry but also cater towards redefining its mistakes in the past by legitimizing new directions that can prevent such mistakes from happening once again. Seeing this, each of these principles shaped the process of intensifying appropriate mechanisms that solidified and influenced patterns of change particularly in civil society.

Lastly, there is the theme of equalizing the status of men and women particularly on suffrage. The incident on August 26, 1920 served to capitalize new inputs that strengthened the value of women in society. In here, they shaped the process of change by also becoming instrument of change themselves. Such process became an important arena for women to exercise their particular rights and justify new avenues towards finding their worth in society (Lewis, p.1).

Overall, these are some themes that have shaped the course of American history in various areas. Without these incidents and changes, there would have been a different outlook in the way policies are initiated. By carefully outlining these available responses and analyzing their significance and worth, it can be seen that indeed each one contributed towards diversifying the way Americans celebrate the principles that their forefathers have shared in the past where each one clamors for freedom, equality, and opportunity for all.
